Chase Paymentech unveils new contactless payments terminal
29 Jun 2012

More merchants are set to begin accepting contactless payments after Chase Paymentech announced that it has launched a new point of sale (POS) terminal that is compatible with the new technology.

The new Future Proof terminal is designed to accept all forms of payment, from standard chip and pin cards to mobiles equipped with a contactless near field communication system.

Chase Paymentech, which is a subsidiary company of JPMorgan Chase & Co, is now set to begin rolling out the terminals to businesses across the US, meaning that consumers will have even more places to make contactless e-money payments.

Company president Mike Duffy believes that the rise of emerging payment options means that merchants are increasingly looking to expand their offerings in a bid to make the check-out as convenient as possible.

"The Future Proof terminal is a one-stop solution for merchants to keep accepting today's forms of payment and prepare for new consumer payment preferences on the horizon," he said.

A recent survey of consumers in the US by Carlisle & Gallagher Consulting Group revealed that 48 per cent are 'very interested' in having a mobile wallet.
