Major US firm distributes Ingenico contactless payment terminals
22 Jun 2012
The number of places that accept NFC payments in the US is set to rise after a major industry player began distributing Ingenico's contactless point-of-sale (POS) terminals across the country.
After signing a multi-year distribution deal with Ingenico, the Phoenix Group has started shipping its industry-leading Telium POS terminals across the US.
The devices accept all forms of payment technology, from traditional magstripe debit and credit cards, to cutting-edge near field communications-enabled smart phones.
"We are very pleased that [the Phoenix Group] has chosen to market and sell our entire Telium line of products to their extensive customer base in the US," remarked Bernie Frey, senior vice president of acquirer sales for Ingenico in North America.
Telium POS terminals from Ingenico are currently being rolled out across the Post Office network in the UK, with 11,500 branches nationwide set to accept contactless payments through the devices by October this year.
