Comparethemarket.com awards 500,000th reward through loyalty scheme

Comparison website comparethemarket.com has awarded its 500,000th prize through its loyalty scheme.

The firm revealed that it reached the milestone yesterday (January 12th) as it received the latest claim for its exclusive meerkat toys based on the characters from the site's TV advertising campaign.

Under its Simples Rewards scheme, customers who purchase car, van, motorbike, life, home or pet insurance through comparethemarket.com are eligible to claim a meerkat toy.

"Achieving 500,000 claims from customers in six months is impressive and shows the strength of the brand and the enduring popularity of the meerkat character with consumers," said Annie Swift, chief executive of Institute of Promotional Marketing.

"The financial services industry has launched a number of successful loyalty schemes like the NatWest pigs and the Churchill dog. The meerkat scheme is well on the way to topping them all."

Comparethemarket.com recently ordered an additional 750,000 toys to cope with the rising demand.
