Greggs considers launching loyalty scheme

High street bakers Greggs is considering rolling out a new loyalty scheme across its UK stores, according to reports.

Marketing Week has revealed that the firm is drawing up plans for a loyalty programme, with a planned launch date scheduled before the end of 2012.

It is reported that Greggs is looking at introducing a traditional card-based programme, where shoppers will receive a stamp each time they make a purchase, as well as those which feature digital technology such as mobile phone apps. 

Ken McMeikan, chief executive of Greggs, told the news provider that the company is analysing "what would be right for our customers in terms of the shopping experience they have with Greggs".

Mr McMeikan added that no final decision has been made about the type of loyalty scheme which will to introduced.

Greggs, which operates 1,600 outlets across the UK, is looking to expand its presence in the UK following a strong period of growth.
