New loyalty card scheme could be launched in Essex town
22 Mar 2012

A new loyalty card scheme could be launched in Grays, Essex, this summer as part of plans to revamp the town centre.

Grays Shopping Centre, opticians chain Specsavers, and Thurrock Council have all teamed up to raise the £4,000 required to get the My Loyalty programme up and running, reports the Thurrock Gazette.

With funding now secured, firms in the town centre will not have to pay to take part in the scheme, which will offer cardholders exclusive discounts at participating businesses.

Keith Evans, Grays Shopping Centre manager, claimed feedback about the scheme - which is set to launch on June 4th - has been "tremendous".

He told the news provider: "We feel that this scheme will give a huge incentive to local people to use local businesses, and we are pleased to be a part of backing something what will promote the Grays business community as a whole."

Thurrock Council is bidding for £100,000 of government funding as part of a scheme to redevelop town centres devised by retail guru Mary Portas.
