Plans drawn up to create new loyalty card in Northumberland
27 Feb 2012

A new loyalty card scheme could be launched in a Northumberland town as retailers in the area look to attract shoppers back to the high street.

Morpeth and District Chamber of Trade and Beach Design have drawn up plans to create a card which would offer shoppers a range of discounts and promotions, reports the Morpeth Herald.

Residents would simply fill out an application form to obtain a card, which they would then show in participating stores to redeem offers.

The card would be linked with the More in Morpeth scheme, which aims to promote the area, with links set to appear on the initiative's website.

Chamber member Ken Stait, who is leading the project, claimed the loyalty card aims to provide local residents access to some "cracking" deals.

He told the news provider: "These offers will be on the [More in Morpeth] website so the website directs traffic to the shops and the shops direct traffic to the website.

"People are looking for something more than just a bland discount now and this card could lead to some really creative deals for people."
