South African retailer to launch new loyalty scheme
20 Feb 2012

A leading retail group in South Africa has launched a new loyalty programme in a bid to reward its customers.

Edcon, which operates a number of leading brands in the country, had rolled out its 'Thank U' programme across its clothing and footwear outlets, reports Independent Online.

Currently, its brands run individual loyalty schemes but the new Thank U scheme allows customers to earn loyalty points at any Edcon-owned store and spend them at any of the group's shops.

Jurgen Schreiber, chief executive of Edcon, told the news provider: "We know that customers shop with many of our retail brands and by having a single rewards programme, they will be able to earn points even faster."

Thank U cardholders will earn ten points for each South Africa Rand (£0.08) they spend and can begin redeeming these points once they accumulate a minimum of 10,000 points.

Edcon operates a range of retailers in South Africa including Edgars, Edgars Active, Red Square, Boardmans, Jet, JetMart, Legit and CAN.
